I'll Take Mine With No Sauce and Extra Cheese

Yesterday, while playing around in our living room, Sugar pulled an amazingly complicated maneuver and fell flat on her face. She was bending over to pick up a sock, when her feet just flew out from under her, her arms were thrown up in the air, and her heavy toddler head came crashing to the carpet. As far as I knew, a body couldn't pull off such extraordinary things like that when simply bending over to pick of an object, but Sugar has never been ordinary.

She lay there making no sound. I knew she couldn't possible be REALLY hurt, so I didn't rush to her aid. I simply said, "Oh my Sugar! What happened?" She didn't respond. "Sugar.....are you okay?" To this....she slowly raised her head. There was a look of embarrassment on her face. Try as I may...try as I might, I couldn't help but chuckle a little. Poor Sugar started to whimper. Feeling somewhat bad for laughing, I decided to rush to her and make a big deal over kissing her boo boos.

"Oh no Sugar.....are you hurt? Show me your owie." She pointed to her chin. I swooped her up, plopped us on the couch and proceeded to commence in operation, "kiss the boo boo." Now Sugar Bear is more than a tad ticklish around her neck area, so she has super stealthy skills at keeping me and my kissing lips FAR away from her neck and anything that could remotely lead to the neck. The wrestling began. I was dodging little hands, and carefully protecting my eyes from poking fingers, as I tried with all my might to get to that chin. She may be small, but man that girl has strength. She can pry her little hands out of my grasp so easily. I kept grabbing them, and trying to hold them out of the way so I may get a kiss in on her, but she kept succeeding in blocking me.

Throughout the entire struggle, an amazingly fabulous giggle erupted from my Sugar Bear. She laughed, snickered and chuckled, as I said, "let me at it...let me kiss it! Hold still!" This continued for several minutes until I finally made contact. I proceeded to kisses, lick and basically slobber all over my little Sugar's chin. At some point, the laughing ended, and it was replaced with "mom.....mom....MOM....STOP! STOPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!" I don't know about you, but I vividly recall being tickled as a child, and how there was a point when it stopped being fun, and started feeling out of control....sort of like torture. Keeping this in mind I always try to stop before it gets to this point. So...I let go and sat up.

Sugar Bear got herself off the couch, turned to me in a most serious manner. She had her hands on her hips when she announced, "MOM! MOM! Chin is NOT food!"

Okay...so it may not be funny on paper....but seriously....I just lost it. That had to be the funniest thing my child has ever said to me. It was a combination of the words, and the way she was so matter of fact about it. It doesn't really matter WHY is was funny, I suppose. It just cracked me up. It gave me the best belly laugh I have had in ages. I could not stoppling laughing as I looked at that little person correcting me for my crazy notion that I could eat her chin. She stood her ground and said, "Mom! It is not funny! Chin is NOT food!" Somehow, I sputtered out an understanding, so that she was satisfied, and she walked away....leaving me in hysterics.

I don't know about you, but that little chin looks mighty tasty, and I like mine with no sauce and extra cheese.

That made me laugh out loud! So sweet! I too remember the feeling when tickeling got to the point of out of control and I didn't want any more of it. Usually the person wouldn't stop and I hated that! My hubby still does this to me and it drives me insane!

Cute story. My two year old son does similar things. He just takes everyone too literally. I'm sure it's the age. :)

Aww, poor little Sugar! Her chin looks just about as kissable as my girls' do though. :) What a little cutie she is.
