A few weeks ago, I mentioned the desire to spend more time doing things I used to love. I am proud to say that I have been successful. Recently, I have taken back my sewing hobby, and have managed to whip out a few outfits for Miss Sugar Bear. The smile it back on my face, and LIFE IS GOOD!
Well....sort of....life could be better actually. My computer has some issues right now, and it is keeping me from reading blogs, and from uploading photos. I had to work really hard to manage the photos for this post. In fact....it took me well OVER an hour to upload them......and that sucks. I am hoping and praying that things get better soon. I have so much to blog about.....and I just can't bare doing it without photos. eeeeeekkk.....and I fear that there is already 145 more posts in my reader as we speak. How about EVERYONE stop blogging for a week....then I can get it all sorted out, and not miss a thing. K?
Anyhow....back to the sewing. It has become a bit of a tradition for me to make Sugar Bear a little outfit for Independence Day. This year, I killed two birds with one stone by not only completing a special Fourth of July outfit, but by using a shirt that fit Sugar Bear perfectly for about 5 minutes then it shrunk into a nasty little "belly shirt" that I refused to let my respectable 3 year old be seen in. What is up with shirts these days? They shrink up at least two inches the first time they are washed. argh!
Okay.....off on a tangent yet again.....
Every year, for as long as I remember there has been a Fourth of July picnic up on the family farms. The location has changed a bit through the years, and the attendees have dwindled, but it is still a cherished tradition that I am honored to share with Sugar Bear.
I purposely didn't take many photographs at the picnic, as I had already taken 3 billion in the past week, so the ones you see here, are mainly it. Looking back....I wish I would have taken more. I didn't really get a great shot of Sugar in her outfit, and it would have been nice to get some shots of her with some of her more distant relatives, but I spent the majority of my time eating visiting with folks I don't see too often.
Sugar Bear spend the majority of her time hanging with some distant cousins she only sees once a year. It took her awhile to warm up, but once she did.....what a time she had. Where a total of eight children there....6 girls and two boys (one of which was only 6 weeks old.)
After the Picnic, Sugar and I took a two and a half hour nap at my parent's house, so that we would be ready to stay up until dark. At this point, Sugar Bear was the only child present, but she had a blast none the less with her chocolate gooey cake, glow sticks, snaps, sparklers, and the small fireworks I brought.
It was a bit difficult being in charge of Sugar Bear, the dog, lighting the fireworks, and taking photos. Being that keeping the dog and child safe while entertaining them, photography went out the window. I have these measly group of snaps to document that we actually did celebrate with a BANG!
P.S. No I didn't have Sugar Bear too close to the fireworks. I somehow managed a long exposure that caught both the fireworks and Sugar. Yes....she doesn't like loud noises, but she really was having fun.

LOVE the photos! I love the outfit too. Sugar is just so adorable. The photo where she's covering her ears - priceless!
I love the one where she is covering her ears! It was my favorite!! I'm glad you have taken back up your sewing! You are very skilled at it and deserve to have tons of hobbies!
Too fun! Sugar bear and that outfit... just adorable!
She is so cute! You are so talented, I'm jealous, I can't sew to save my life.
I love the pic of her covering her ears and the one with her chocolate face. So cute!
Sorry your having computer issues, that can be sooo frustrating!
I love her 4th of july outfit! That's too cute. :)
That outfit is very cute, my word, you are clever!
That picnic sounds wonderful!
The outfit is pure loveliness! Congrats on the joy seeking!
SB looked adorable and very very patriotic! Glad you're getting back to sewing. My poor neglected sewing machine is hidden under a pile of clothes that I need to put up in the loft. I'm hoping it won't be crushed from the weight!!
Happy Belated 4th of July!!
You did a great job on the outfit! A. has that exact same red shirt...it did shrink up a bit didn't it?? I love how you made the pants, too, and she is just adorable in it all. :)
I know what you mean about getting creative in the sewing room. I always feel so accomplished when I have completed something.
Great shots from the 4th party, too. Looks like it was a lot of fun!
that is an adorable outfit! I never would have thought to make a handkerchief shirt like that.
Darling out-fit!
Corey, she looks so much like you...especially in the first nighttime photo. She's adorable. I love her outfit, and it looks like she did too. Thanks for sharing!
That outfit is adorable! Looks like it brought a smile to HER face as well as yours!! And don't feel bad, you got much better pictures of her in her outfit than I got of N in either of her Independence Day outfits - nothing at all here!!
Sorry about all the computer troubles...that's just about the most frustrating thing on earth. *crossing fingers* it gets resolved soon.
Oh, and LOVE the photo of Sugar Bear covering her ears!!!
i love your p.s.
anyone who visits your blog knows you wouldn't put sugar in any danger. you wouldn't have thrown *her* on the rocket, for example.
Love the outfit and the fireworks.
And sending get-well wishes to your computer. :)
Love it. Looking like a good time!
