On very special occasions, such as Christmas, I find that I rarely take photos, and those that I do, are just quick snaps. I am so busy being in the moment, and THAT is more important to me, than getting all the "perfect" shots. This year, I honestly intended to, but after about 3 hours of fun conversation with my extended family, I realized that I had hardly touched my camera.
Later that night, before slipping Sugar Bear into bed, I actually remembered to take a few photos of Sugar Bear putting out the cookies for Santa. To be honest, we had already set them out, and started heading to bed when I realized I had missed a moment I'd like to document.
So I simply asked Sugar to sit with the cookies again. She was more than happy to delay her bedtime. What a trooper. I snapped a few of her on the hearth, then asked her to sit on the floor in front of it. Before I knew it, she was pretending to grab Santa's cookies. Her little hands reached for the cookies, while her mouth broke into a mischievous little smirk. "I'm gonna eat Santa's cookies, Mom! You better stop me!"
And I shrieked, "NO! Don't do THAT! Santa will be so disappointed!" with mock fear in my voice, and so much merriment in my heart! "I'm just kidding, Moooooommmmm!!!!!", Sugar replied with a smile that would melt the icicles right off the nostrils of "all of the other reindeer!"
With a few giggles, and some wonderfully heartfelt hugs, we trod off to bed hand in hand. I am so grateful that I took the time to recreate our "Santa's Cookie Moment", because the second time around was actually better than the first. I will have that precious memory forever. LIFE IS GOOD!
And I'm pretty sure Sugar thought so too, when she saw this scene on Christmas morning. Our home is now even more filled with the music from our hearts.
14 Live It or Love It:
You know, we all love our children, but I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who loved another person with the passion that you love your daughter. It's amazing to watch.
Hi! I have to say that I do the same exact thing - I rarely take photos during events like Christmas! I like just enjoying being part of the action, that I don't want to stop and become the photographer instead. So we only have a few, very bad, photos from Christmas this year.
That's so cute, and I just love her little smile. It's the most amazing thing, to see their little personalities shine through!! I just love kids innocence.
I'm like you though, not too many pics of Christmas time, more time just spent with family rather than capturing it. Glad you took these, they're great!!

Very cute!! I actually forgot to take photos of the kids putting out the milk and cookies this year.
I have to say, I fall in love with Sugar a little more with every post. What a sweet, silly darling little girl!
And I'm the same way with taking pictures of events! Bad, bad!
She has the most wonderful smile! Thanks for sharing it with us.
She's just perfect! I got some shots of Emma putting out the cookies this year too but none are as beautiful as yours. Of course, Emma just will not pose or even look at the camera lately! Awesome job Corey! I haven't been around lately either and am catching up on my blogs just now so that's why I haven't commented im some time!
She got two guitars! Luckee!
Hee hee, I love her humour. Fabulous. :D
I'm light-headed from sucking in my breath when I saw that last pic of Sugar--icicle melting is understating it--she is spectacular! Wow! Sounds like you made every moment of Christmas count and took the pics to prove it. GREAT JOB Corey! You rock.
and looks like Santa made sure little Sugar will follow in your footsteps;)
