A very Special Reindeer, and a Sassy little Elf

Last week, I posted the first round of photos from my mission to achieve the perfect Christmas Card photo.  Tomorrow for wordless wednesday, I'll post idea # 2.  Today, you get the honor of viewing attempt THREE!  This third idea, has to be proof that I have an illness.  I simply can't leave well enough alone, and I must always push us to our limits.

Seriously, folks.........photographing a young child is hard enough.....why on earth would I torture myself by adding an animal to the mix???????  A large animal.......a not very well trained animal........good grief.

In theory....the idea was simple.  Cute Child (check) + Darling Pony (check) + Candy Cane and Antlers (check, check) = The Most Adorable Christmas Card EVER!

Ummmmm yeah.......Brillant...or was it?  It was my job to be at the ready with the camera, and to NOT miss that perfect moment, that was sure to last all of .0008 seconds.  The Hubby's job was to make sure Tiny was in place, and didn't attemp to eat Sugar Bear.  Tiny likes to nibble on Sugar's clothes, and let's just say, Sugar Bear isn't appreciative of that habit.

Usually, Tiny goes NUTS for a yummy candy cane, so I thought we'd easily get a quick shot of Tiny nibbling it, but this day.....she could have cared less. Sugar repeatedly tried to ram it up Tiny's nose, while Tiny dodged it, and I just snapped away.

I really like the following shot, but as you can see....The Hubby hadn't quite made it out of the picture yet.

We tried again....and this is cute....but Sugar's eyes are barly open, and Tiny's antlers are down, and sort of hard to tell what they are.

This is better, but I'm still not all that fond of Sugar's eyes being barely open.....sigh.....

Nov2908_0035ew

Those were the best three out of like......ummmm 80 shots.  Sugar Bear was quite the trooper but honestly, I think the following photo shows what BOTH Sugar Bear and Tiny were thinkingthe entire time....."Dude.....this is the dumbest idea EVER!"

Nov2908_0041ew

After awhile we realized that Tiny was NOT going to be interested in the candy cane, so The Hubby suggested a nice plate of wet cob, one of Tiny's FAVORITE treats.  I ran for a festive plate, and soon we had them set up for "the shot!"  I just knew it.  Ummmm.....yeah....but this was so not it!

At least Sugar Bear is looking at me in this photo, but I can't help be hear her saying, "Seriously mom......I'm doing my best here, but this pony is IMPOSSIBLE!"

Nov2908_0049ew

In the end, it felt like quite a bust!  "That's it! I am so not getting paid enough for this!"

Nov2908_0054ew

I begged and pleaded, and at least got a quick shot of her standing near Tiny.

We gave up and packed it in.  Later that night I threw together a couple more Christmas Cards, and found that it really hadn't turned out as bad as it felt at the time.  It took work, y'all.  Serious work, but I'm certain it was worth it.

Even Sugar Bear got in the Christmas spirit, and  passed out her Christmas Cards to her friends this year.

I'm not sure what I'll drum up for next year, but I'm sure I won't have learned my lesson.  At least we have about 11 months to rest up.

Oh Corey, I'm cracking up here. The look on Sugars face in some of those pictures is hysterical! I know a little boy and a couple dogs that totally understand what Sugar and Tiny were thinking. Our poor children and pets..lol

Oh! I love her expressions! I have to tell you, she's certainly more patient than The Bean! Even if you didn't get the "perfect" shot, you captured Sugar which is always perfect.

Oh but Corey, it's DARLING! Such a brilliant idea with the pony - not your fault he didn't want to cooperate. Sugar looks like she was a champ, tho. And you, my dear, totally get an A for Effort!

Maybe if I start now I could be as ambitious as you and make cool cards. Nicely done!
