snow angel

Upon waking one morning, and noticing the snow gently drifting from the sky, Sugar dug deep into her memories, and found some that featured the snow of last year. It had been nearly a year to the week since the last time our little corner of the world felt the kisses of snow on it's ground. As the snow began to slowly accumulate on the ground, Sugar excitedly announced that she would be making a snow angel. My heart melted at her optimism, as I too quickly judged that there just wouldn't be enough for such an activity. She smiled up at me, and said, "But that's okay Mom! It is snowing, and we just need a little." Indeed.....and despite my lack of belief, it continued to snow most that day.

As soon as the snow reached a satisfactory depth, Sugar insisted that it was time for her snow angel. Watching my dear child search the yard for the perfect spot in which to leave her angelic mark, my heart felt as if it would burst. Oh to have the joy of a child. To be innocent of this world's hurt. To look at the snow and only see the possibilities....and none of the struggles it may cause. For one moment, I was able to just BE......just be in the glorious snow with MY ANGEL. This is the gift she gives me, and I am forever grateful for just a little taste of childhood again.

Angels can fly because they carry no burdens. ~Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another. ~Luciano de Crescenzo

If one looks closely enough, one can see angels in every piece of art. ~Adeline Cullen Ray

A baby is an angel whose wings decrease as his legs increase. ~Author Unknown

Ever felt an angel's breath in the gentle breeze? A teardrop in the falling rain? Hear a whisper amongst the rustle of leaves? Or been kissed by a lone snowflake? Nature is an angel's favorite hiding place. ~Carrie Latet

'Flight of the Snow Angels.'

Beneath sunny kisses
They take to the air
And vanish like the child
That once left them there.
Like a dark bird time sweeps over the hills
And takes the winged prints from snow covered fields
Back to the far north where all angels go
That ever was made by a child in the snow.

~I like to believe this to be truth.~Judy C. Meeker

There are days when I sit in wonder at the greatest gift of all. The opportunity to be the parent of an angel on earth.

Thank you Sugar Bear.....THANK YOU!
