Late in the day, last weekend, I was mowing the lawn weeds, when something furiously dashed out from under the blades of the mower. I quickly stopped the mower and glanced in the direction of the blur. I easily spotted a little mouse....or a mouse like creature, huddled in the grass, gasping for breath. I stood there, about 5 feet away watching, as the little honey about had a heart attack right before my eyes. It nearly looked as if it had the hiccups. Poor thing....I am quite certain I scared the bejeezers out of it. After a minute or so, I wondered if it would stay still long enough for me to run get my camera. (NO.....despite popular belief, I do NOT have my camera permanently attached to my hand!)
I was pleasantly surprised to see the little critter still having a panic attack in the dead grass I like to call my lawn. Getting a photo, however, proved to be a difficult task as the grass was much taller than him/her, so it took a few tries to get the angle just right. I probably snapped off about 5 photos before I made a drastic move to the OTHER side of the little thing. Suddenly, it was off like a shot and dove into the tall grass lining our fence. The moment was over. I'm glad I got a photo though. Sugar was watching from the window, and was pleased to see what I had captured with my camera.
Have a great Sunday! Thanks for stopping by.

I think these are perfect shots! Very natural! Very well done!
Have a perfect Sunday! :-)
Could you imagine having a giant lawnmower running over you! Holy cow...good thing they have little brains. Such cool photos of the little creature.
LOL, you're lucky it was still there when you came back with your camera.
Amazing pics! And the story attached makes them even more amazing! The tall grass just adds to the whole dramatic scenario! Brilliant!
Another reason I love you is because I feel we are kindred spirits in animal-love. Whereas most people would be like: "EEEK! A mouse!" I think mice are so cute and sweet! I would have tried to take pics of him too! Nice job!
Great shots! I rarely have time to grab my camera before little things like that run off :)
heart beating extra fast I presume sk
I still can't believe what you manage to capture with your camera. Great shot!
I won't post pictures of what shot out from under our mower as my husband cut the grass yesterday. He apparently hit one of Kermit's relatives :(
That is wonderul, He's just so cute.
that's a great photo! good job!
He/she is so adorable poor little thing.I think you did a good job getting the pictures.
I absolutely abhor rodents, but these shots and your description of the critter's panic attack make me wanna adopt it on the spot! BTW, I'm hosting a Recipe Week on my blog, starting tomorrow. Please stop by and see what's cookin'!
Wow! Another opportunity well taken. These are brilliant shots and I am sure that Sugar approved!
I love it! You mean your camera isn't permanently attached to you? heheheh, I have people thinking the same thing about me too. I must admit, at first, while reading the post and seeing the photos, I was thinking to myself "Whoa, she even has her camera around her neck while she mows!!!" hehehehe
I'm SO relieved the critter didn't have a heart attack ;-)
I am shocked he was still there when you got back with the camera. He had to be traumatized! Cute shots though.
Poor little scared critter! It's a cute little thing.
What a cute little critter! He probably was scared out of his wits when the lawnmower went off!
I won't describe the mice that encountered my lawn mower. Bleck.. When you look at them like that you feel sorry for them. When they are in your car making a mess of it... your glad when they get ran over!
I simply do not know how you do it. I've been "sponging" here for a while now and am amazed at every post you add. I'd give, well, maybe my right or left hand to have only half your talent! Love, love , love your blog.
Wonderful pictures of the mouse. However, I would have happier feelings about the little guys if they would stay out of my house!
Oh so cute. :D
How awesome that you were able to get a shot of this cutie!
