Over at Shutter Sisters, I won a custom covered book called "America At Home". To quote the website:
AMERICA AT HOME is an extraordinary book of fascinating photographs from 100 of the nation's leading photojournalists plus thousands of amateurs, and features more than 250 photos capturing the emotions of home: the distinctive rituals, the intimate moments, and all the ways in which we work, play, and interact with friends and family members (and pets!) as we transform our dwellings into the most important place in the world: HOME.
I am thrilled to have a copy of this book, and also to have an opportunity to put one of my photos on the cover, but I completely stink at making decisions. I simply can not decide which photo I should have on my custom cover. I need help.....
I have narrowed it down using a few criteria. I want the photo to have Sugar Bear in them. I figure it isn't often we have a nice hard bound book with our child's photo on the front, so I might as well take advantage of that. Plus....she'll get a HUGE kick out of it. Secondly, I want the photo to say something about the spirit of OUR home. I want Sugar Bear to look at it as she grows and see a bit of the culture she had growing up. We love to be outside, exploring nature. We are playful, and enjoy the things around us. We love to be in our home, where we feel cozy and safe.
Here are a few of the choices I have whittled it down to. Please take a look, and leave me a comment voting for which photo you think fits the theme of this book best.
I really appreciate your help.

28 Live It or Love It:
I can't choose only one either, but my 2 faves are the one pulling the bear in the snow and the one on the swing.
I'M NUMBER ONE!!! Damn, I'm not number one. Okay enough about me. I like photos #5 and #7. I can't choose between the two. I love the frog one but I also love the tree swing. Hard decision, good luck Corey. -Heather
That cool Corey! I actually have the book and I LOVE it. I also have an opportunity to get it custom covered (only I have to pay $7 for it, I believe) and I have no idea what to use either.
But your choices are better than mine! *wink*
I looked at each photo and even though I really like the bear on the sled and the frog picture - the one that stood out for me for a cover was the swing. That's my humble opinion.
Because of the name 'Sugar Bear', I like the one with the bears on the sled, and how carefully she is looking after them as she pulls. Very sweet.
I also like the colorful one in the swing.
I also like the one with ?? grandfather? Teaching her something of importance and her careful attention. That is priceless too.
Darn! I think the bears on the sled.
swing swing swing!
so colorful.
and it just says it all. you know what *it* is. that. it says that.
they all say it, but the swing says it the most.
I like them all but I think the one with the frog is my favorite. She's playing with the frog yet she's interacting with you...great shot and I think it sums up the book.
I like 3,4,5 and 7 the best for a cover shot like that. I lean towards more either 3 or 7 though! Let us know which one you pick! It's a toughie!
I can't choose, but I like 3, 5, and 7...in no particular order.
good luck choosing!!
Post this on our board...
Without a doubt #3! :)
#7 definitely! That's my favorite.
First, congrats! Hard decision, indeed... but I think you said it yourself... as she grows... I think she would most appreciate a shot with her Grandpa! That get's my vote :-)
No matter which you choose, you can't loose...I pick #3:)
Great photos and congrats!! I love # 3,4,5,7 for this. My favorite I think is #5, or 7, or 5. Yeah #5 would be a perfect cover. They are all gorgeous photos though!
#5..that's the one
They are all great, it's so hard to pick! I can't pick between her on the swing and pulling the bear in the snow either, just so cute.
The one in the swing is my favorite and the one with the frog is a very close second. Congrats on the book it sounds really cool!
My top two are number 5 and number 7. I'd have a hard time choosing as well. I couldn't even get it down to one, and Sugar isn't even mine! I know it's tons more difficult when it's your sweet one. Whatever you choose will be wonderful!
I like 2, 5, 7 and 8. I like the frog because Sugar seems to be very interested in animals (the snake one got me!). But I like the one with Grandpa...if they have a close relationship I would chose that one just because you'll eventually pass it down to her.
Oh gosh, this is a hard choice - you take too many great photos! ;o)
My picks are #3, 5 and 7. I think the froggy one really captures Sugar's spirit the best, but I absolutley adore the one on the swing.
Congrats on the win!
Congrats on your win!
Those are all great options, but I would definitely pick the swing picture.
Hi lovley, sorry I'm a bit behind. I love the frog, the one of Sugar with your dad, the bear on the sled, and Sugar on the swing. Sorry, that doesn't help much does it? Yay for the win though hon. xx
#5, the one with the frog. That photo is so amazing I'd like to put it on my own book. Or in a frame in my house. But then you'd think I was some kind of stalker freak, which I'm not. I swear.
But you let her explore a lot with critters and that photo gets to heart of it. The look on her face is precious.
My second choice is number 7.
In all honesty, I've only seen a few photos over the years that REALLY struck me/stuck with me as AMAZING and number 5 is one of them. You could win contests with that I think.
ooh, I like 5 and 7.
I participated in that when it was a blog challenge! How fun that the book is published. Even better that you won! Congrats.
Okay... I'm going to answer without reading the other comments because I know it will sway my decision.
First off, all of the photos are ADORABLE. No wonder you're having a hard time deciding. But my favourite is definitely #5. To me it screams "cover of a coffee table book". But, more than that, I think it's quintessentially Sugar Bear (from what I know of her through your blog). There's a little tiny bit of adorable mischievousness in her eyes... and then of course, the frog, which really speaks to her love of animals and nature and the fun you always have at your home exploring all the critters around you. Plus... Sugar Bear looks GORGEOUS. That's definitely my pick.
Following in a distant second and third are #4 and #7. They are beautiful portraits, but don't say "cover of a coffee table book" to me the way #5 does. I'm a sucker for super close ups.
Anyway, that's my two cents... can't wait to hear what you decide.
(Now I read the comments - I know a few people have suggested #3. It's adorable, but it doesn't show her gorgeous face, so I don't like it as much. Same goes for #1 and #8.
Wow. How opinionated am I?? You asked though!
Okay wait. I just looked through the book itself from the link you gave, and perhaps the one of Sugar Bear on the swing fits more with the style of the other photos in the book.
Aggggh. I hate making decisions. Don't envy you.
I love Sugar Bear on the swing. The smile the looking up it's such a great shot. My second choice would be Sugar Bear pulling the sled with the teddies. That's just adorable. And my 3 choice would be the last one. That's just a special moment.
Although they're all great. No wonder you're having problems. ;)
the one of her on the swing. My fave :-)
I have a copy of this book with one of my photos on the front--I won it in the America at Home photo contest. I just used my winning photo. I can tell you from experience that the printing is excellent and it is so cool to own a book with your own photography on the cover!
congrats on owning such a wonderful book and getting to have your own photo on the cover! I might be too late to chime in, and it's not like I can even make a decision - they are all fabulous photos! - but I really do like the frog and swing ones!
