Photostory Friday~ The Man on the Moon

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

For as long as I can remember, I have been smitten with the Moon. It's beauty soothes me. I am forever intrigued by it's phases. From the sliver or light, to the full glowing orb it's mystery draws me in.

I have tried for several years to get a satisfactory photo of the object of my affection with very little success. Either my camera, my lens, impossible schedules, or weather patterns have made my quest impossible to attain. I have suffered many a horrendous shot of my moon. They have been blurry, or to bright. The moon was FAR FAR FAR away, or hardly noticeable at all. Every attempt left me frustrated and disappointed.

Last summer I got a few shots that were passable, and I shared them here. They were by far the best I had ever managed to pull off.....until now.

Sigh.....This shot was taken a few nights ago. I could stare at it all day. I am thrilled with the detail I was able to capture. I almost feel like I can see the Man on the moon. YEAH!

Edited to add Camera info:

As always, I shot this in Manual.
Exposure: 1/125
Aperture: f/20
Focal Length: 275 mm (used my 70-300mm lens)
ISO Speed: 100
Flash: Flash did not fire

Tripod was used with my remote shutter.

Will I ever be number one? I feel like I jinxed myself. I strive to someday be at the top. Someday. You should change the words to Over the Rainbow to Over the Moon. You'd be really cool in my book if you did that. Oh wait, you're already really cool. Awesome pic Corey. Tengo que irme. Hasta luego! (I see no need to sign my name since I'm sure you know who I am) Your #1 blogstalker.

Gorgeous! I've tried a few times to photograph the moon, too. Ah, it was impossible for me! I'm really admiring your photo... Did you see the moon again tonight? Another big full moon for us! Love it! (And, that means it's not raining!!!)

That is a magnificent capture of the moon. My Izzy is very obsessed with the moon. I've been trying to capture a shot too for a long time. Hopefully my night will come soon.

Beautiful!!

I can NEVER get a shot of the moon. It ends up looking like a bleach spot on a black photo. *sigh*

Amazing! Oh WoW! I fail most times when taking a moon shot. I need a better camera for that kind of shot.....sigh

When I first got "serious" about photography, I thought it would be cool to take a picture of the moon. All of them have sucked!
This is beautiful. I would enlarge it, frame it, and hang it, front and center in the living room!

OMG! I SO wish I could get pictures like that. I kept trying to get a good one at the beach with no success. It was very frustrating.

That's fabulous, Corey! I love the moon too. There's nothing better than lying on a blanket in the yard, looking into the sky and moon and feeling and hearing the wind blow all around you.

You rocked it girl. I took about 500 photos of the moon while we were in Hungary (on every setting imaginable) and got nothing that comes anywhere close to this. Who knew it was so difficult to photograph the moon?!

Thanks for including the shooting information. Perhaps I won't have to pull my hair out next time I try to catch the moon.
