Partly because it is fun....but most because I haven't had the time to edit any photos from THIS Easter, I'm posting a vintage Sugar Bear. This photo takes us back to Easter of 2006. Sugar was approximately 15 months old, and the sweetest girl in the whole wide world. She MIGHT have had some possessiveness issues, but I'm not judging.
This week over at I ♥ faces, they have a special Amateurs entry. I am including this photo in that category, as I believe it fits best there. This photo was taken with my Canon S2 IS. This was over a year before I purchased my DSLR, and WELL before I every dreamed of charging anyone for my photos. I was actively soaking up everything I could photography wise, but had not ventured away from Auto Mode. While I technically still fit in the amateur category today, as I tend to still feel like I have a TON to learn before feeling comfortable charging folks for my photos, at this time, I most certainly was a complete and total amateur. I mean....check that 1970's blanket as a backdrop. tee hee.....what was I thinking?
Please head on over to I ♥ Faces this week to see some fun Easter/Spring photos.

SO cute!!
I would certainly be afraid to take that egg away! I can see Mine! Mine! Mine! written all over her face. Happy Easter!
I love this photo AND I love the 70s blanket in the background. All of the professional photographers are using textures now in PS, you were well before your time!!!
Definitely NOT amateur! How adorable is that? What an expression! Glad to read your background info... it's nice to know everyone starts from somewhere!
I love the texture in the blanket, adorable photo.

Such an awesome shot. I like the blanket too! And my, I really do NOT want to negotiate with her over that egg!! LOL. Beautiful :D
Such s sweet picture......
I love vintage Sugar Bear!!!!!!
Eeee! She is so cute. Seriously, SO CUTE!!! Love that death grip on her egg. :o) And even as an amateur, you rock!
I actually love the blanket. It adds a cool texture and is so much nicer than any blanket I have around my house. This is a beautiful photo and you captured a very professional looking picture...even without an SLR! Very nice!
Precious. I love the look on her face and that she's hugging the huge egg! Great shot!
That is the cutest photo ever! Her body language just screams "My Egg!!" Hee hee... treats bring out the best in our kids, huh.

Our blog: Double Happiness!
i would so put this on my wall and she's not even mine. i love everything about this shot, esp that face!
I didn't even notice the blanket backdrop, and when I looked again, I thought it looked wonderful. Gorgeous light for this shot, nice and soft...and man, oh man, that little scowl and tight clutch on the egg...priceless! Isn't it fun to look back on the ones we thought ROCKED a mere year or two ago? (Even though I think this will long live as a great image...)
What a priceless shot...it reminds me a lot of one I took for this weeks theme with an ostrich egg we have...wishing you a blessed week ahead...
Best,
Rosalyn-Sue
Ok, that is super adorable. Amateur and all... it's cute!!
You have NEVER been an amateur! This is just as beautiful as the ones you do now. So sweet! Uh Oh! I use a blanket like that in some of my photos now. Is is ugly? I LOVE IT! lol Nice job! Cute Entry of your little doll! Can't wait to see your new Easter pics!
Awww! Don't mess with that little lady's egg!
Thanks for all the lovely commments! :)
here's the deal on the blanket. I used it as a backdrop for nearly every portrait session I did for over a yeat. It is in like a billion of my photos. Some....it lended a nice touch, others....it was distracting. Also it never seemed to look white. It was a battle to get the color right. It mostly looked grey in the shots. I think the texture lended to having shadows, and such. It was just a hard thing to get right.
I do think it is a pretty blanket though....I just think I made things hard on myself.
This does NOT look amateur! :-) What a fantastic picture - your entries are always so beautiful!
So wonderful! Perfect face :)
lol Sure Corey! I know what you really think. lol Mine is polka dot and white like yours. I used it in a newborn session. I will take yours too if you get tired of it! lol Silly girl! ......
I just love her expression!
Even with the 70's blanket in the back, it's still a great shot...must be the subject!
Awwww, look at that little Sugar Bear! Hmm, possessive sounds about right - I can just hear the thought in her little head, "Mine!", lol. :) We hear that one around here a lot too. ;)
I thought the blanket in the background was adorable!
She is too cute hugging her egg!
Oh yea, she is def. holding on to that egg as if saying, "it's mine and you can't have it"
Beautiful photo :)
LOVE that!! Huge egg and all
Hey, my first camera was the S2 IS. I loved it, finally upgraded to a D80.
Could you imagine trying to get that egg away from her? Not me!
Every week I enjoy looking through your blog at your photos. They are beautiful.
