This week's Wordless Wednesday featured photos of my little Sugar dying the Easter Eggs! While we had an Egg-cellent time together coloring the eggs, it wasn't without problems.
First it took me all week to find the time to drop by the store to get WHITE eggs. You see, we get all our eggs from Grandma and Papa's farm, and they are BROWN. While they do dye, they aren't pretty. I finally remembered to pickup a dozen with only one day to spare. I was glad they weren't out of eggs at the store.
Luckily for us, there was another short window to dry sky on Saturday, and we were able to notch out some time for outdoor egg dying. I like doing outside for two reasons. Partially because it keeps the mess outside, but MOSTLY because it makes for better pictures.
After dying approximately 8 eggs, Sugar Bear needed to use the restroom. I accompanied her inside. While we were only gone for 4 minutes, it only took that much time for things to go south. When we returned, we found a bit of chaos, and Sugar was a bit like this for the remaining eggs.
You see, we had previously let our miniature horse, Tiny, into the yard from her field to do a bit of lawn maintenance for us. (tee hee...she mows and fertilizes) I had forgotten that she was out, and when we went into the house, she was out back and out of my thoughts. When we came back out.....it was another story. She had proceeded to knock over a few of our dye cups, yank the egg carton onto the ground, cracking two dyed ones and one of the ones waiting to be dyed. UGH.....it did not make us filled with the Easter spirit. Luckily, she had decided to go straight for the eggs, and managed to completely ignore my camera sitting on the table. WHEW.....
I busied myself cleaning up, and helping Sugar salvage the few that could still be dyed, and neglected to take photos of the scene. (yes......I know....you are surprised!) Here is a photo of our little Easter egg wrecker, I had taken a week or so earlier.
She is hard to stay mad at, and we both knew she didn't mean to hurt our fun, so we gathered up our feelings, and turned them back into JOY, and went about our day. It didn't take Sugar Bear long to find her pretty smiles again. It could have been the Ritz crackers with Easy Cheese snack I quickly served, that lifted the mood. I mean....who can stay mad when you have cheese from a can? (tee hee)
OH and believe me....Sugar hardly took her eyes off her precious plate of goodies. Tiny, had NO chance of swiping one of those cracker treats, but we all know she wanted to.
10 Live It or Love It:
I don't believe I have ever seen white eggs in our shops!
I like the whole "Tell Me Thursday" thing. I may try it sometime.
Tiny getting into the eggs is like daily stuff here. I swear I have the worst luck in the world. At least they all weren't ruined. Kids usually stay mad a lot less longer than we do (and the cheese and crackers look good!).
What a cute picture of Tiny! We just love mini horses around here:)
I love that last picture! I guess I need to get some of that cheese in a can.
What a perfect model you have for your photos! Great journaling story with photos. You might not remember many of your egg dying days, but you will surely remember this one.
Wow, I think you officially have an artiste in the house (err, make that TWO)! :)
Great story! Thanks again for participating! And Gayle, we hope you do join us over at Tell Me Thursday some time! :-)
How funny! Kind of like a "Behind the Scenes" show. I never would have guessed there was anythin amiss from your first post!
oh my goodness i adore that 1st picture of her, she is so adorable!
yikes thank goodness your camera didnt get harmed!
Adorable. She looks like she's doing a cracker or a spread commercial! You might have some talent on your hands! :)
