Back in November, I had a VERY special treat. This little country girl took a trip to the BIG CITY! This trip was planned in August, and so very looked forward to. Seriously....I don't get a girls weekend away very often, and especially not one this exciting.
There was a hotel stay.
There was a hotel stay.
And amazing views of the city. The weather wasn't too pretty, but I didn't care.
We were on the 15th floor. I have mentioned before that I am not afraid of heights.....unless Sugar is with me, and then I'm a totally maniac. It is a really good thing she wasn't with me on the balcony or I would have had to vomit. The railing seemed to not be up to code in either my or my friend's opinion. She has seven kids, and we both concluded that we would NOT feel very safe staying in this hotel with our children.
The purpose of our trip, beyond having fun, was to attend a showing of the So You Think You Can Dance Season Five Tour! Us girls were BEYOND excited. We love love love that show, and couldn't wait to see some of our favorite dances from the season.
We found our seats....after quite a bit of looking. We are country girls remember. Things aren't very complicated where we live, and this place was HUGE.
We got settled, and found a stranger to snap a shot of us together. Just looking at the photos takes me right back to that excited feeling.
Now, heading into the arena, I was told that because my camera had a removable lens, I would not be aloud to use it. Well....that just stunk. It wasn't like I had a telephoto lens or anything. Just my 50mm. So I used it anyhow. Seriously....these photos stink, but because I was there, I can tell who and what they are of, and I wanted the memories.
I was so very excited to see some of my favorite dancers. There was EVAN!
There were so many wonderful performances, including some of my very favorite ones, like the "Butt Dance!"
Phillip was a dancer we were ALL anticipating. Sadly....besides cutting it up with Jeanine regarding the Russian Folks Dance routine...
and tiny bit of dancing for that routine....he did not dance. BOO HISS! No explanation, but we are assuming injury. sigh.....
It was our only disappointment though. We got a chance to experience some wonderfully moving routines, like this one about Cancer called, "A woman's work."

OH but if you just want to see some really HOT dancing...watch this one...wowza! the water splashing makes me giggle. tee hee
Seriously.....it was a really fabulous show, and we were so very ecstatic to be there. While I am not a dancer....I have a BIG appreciation for the art, and love to watch all forms of dance. I am so glad I had the opportunity to see this show, and look forward to doing it again.

The rest of the weekend was spent laughing, shopping, and eating. It really couldn't get any better than that.
Thanks Girls! Let's do it again.....SOON!
11 Live It or Love It:
thanks for stopping by my blog!
what an amazing and fun experience you had!!! how awesome. the pictures really are great, too. it's cool that you got the names and dance moves in the pics! :) cheers to 2010!
Cool! Looks like you had a blast. It's hard to take pics in those situations. But one picture has me puzzled... you wear glasses??? I know my memory is shot but I don't remember you wearing glasses. LOL
So Cool!
I've never really watched that show - but this makes me wanna! how totally FUN!
Oh what fun! Jeepers, I got a funny feeling in my feet looking at that railing from the hotel room - ooooh! I would not have been happy to have little people around there either. Corey, you look amazing!
Oh I'm so totally jealous - I've been a huge fan of SYTYCD since the first season and now Ron and I watch every show together. I'd love to make it to one of the tours someday - and season 5 had some of my very favorite dancers. I'm so glad you had an awesome time!
That looks like so much fun. Not only do we NOT have places like that even remotely close to go to, I'm sadly lacking girl friends to go with. I have friends, but we are all so wrapped up in the busy, busy lives of our kids we rarely do anything. (Me, it is never). What a great time you must have had.
awww oh fun!!! i love weekends like that - you're so lucky. and yes that railing with shoe almost falling off - not safe!!! sheesh!
and your show pics, awesome!! i must admit... i have never watched the show but those pics are brilliant!
i spelt 'how' wrong... seriously who does that...
