It was so fun reading your comments on my Wordless Wednesday photos. Sort of a mixed bag, of "wow you are brave" and "you look beautiful". It made me laugh.
You see, I find myself like many of you, behind the camera. Every now and again, I remember that years from now, Sugar will probably cherish MORE some pics of her family, than the 50 trillion photos of her by herself. In an effort to be more visible in the documentation of her life, I turn the camera around on myself, every now and again.
These photos were taken while waiting for the coals in our barbecue to heat up on Memorial weekend. I had my camera out, as we had been attempting some Silhouettes, that didn't turn out so well. Remembering that I haven't been in front of the camera in months and months, I asked Sugar to come snuggle for some pics. I paid no never mind to the fact that I hadn't brushed my hair that day....nor did I have a lick of makeup on. I figure, THAT is exactly as I am at least 95% of the time, and how she knows me. The pictures from her life might as well portray her mother as she remembers her, right? So away I snapped. She has brought over something to show me, but since I can't remember ANYTHING I'm at a loss for what we were admiring, but....the photos are sweet, huh?
Minus the fact that the back lighting of the sun made my hair look gray, which it is not. Trust me.....
My challenge to YOU, is to turn the camera around on yourself in the next few weeks. Your children will be ever so grateful. Remember.....they will remember you as you were.....not as you wished you were. NOW is the time for pictures, not later.
18 Live It or Love It:
Awww, all the pictures are great!!
You are exaclty right, we all need to turn the camera around on ourselves sometimes too.
You both also have gorgeous eyes-love it!
Oh I hope you didn't think the "You are brave" comments were meant to say YOU shouldn't be in front in the camera! What they meant, I am SURE, is that we are all are too scared to take our own photos!
Most of us only want to get a photo taken after our hair is perfect, our make-up is full on, when we finally lost some of our extra weight - oh and after we finally start to grow younger and lose some of those age spots and wrinkles - LOL!!!
You look great!!! Especially because you look so happy. Sugar Bear will cherish all of those photos!
Love the photos and LOVE the story!
No make-up on! Okay...now I really hate you! Just kidding!!
I'll try...I have tried a lot but I always look so terrible! Even after Photoshop!
Yay pictures! I can do the no make up photo. You know I go back and add it in photoshop;)
I love this. First you look beautiful and I love that you didn't doodle yourself up. I try to insert myself into a picture every once in a while. I was trying to think if I had any pictures of my mom and I when I was very little and I don't. Recently someone gave my brother a picture of my mom holding him when he was just about two and she was twenty three. It is the most gorgeous picture, it made my mom cry. Such a treasure as it's the only one.
The two of you are beautiful. Thanks for sharing & thanks for the reminder that I need to get in front of the camera more often.
Ya know, I used to be all hesitant to get in front of the camera for vanity's sake...but not anymore. I love to do pics with Nadia. It still doesn't happen that often, but that's only do to laziness!
The photos ARE sweet Corey! Thank goodness for a remote (my hubby couldn't take a non-blurry photo even on fully automatic if he TRIED).
These pictures are great! I am glad you point that out about her having pictures of you. I am the same and I am often behind the camera. I will have to attempt to be in front of it more often! My Tell Me Thursday answers are here.
Great pictures and love the story. Being behind the camera myself. It's hard to remember to get infront.
Found you via Tell me Thursday
Love the photos. We are going on vacation next week so thank you for reminding me to come out from behind the camera and get some shots of me and the kids instead of me not anywhere.
You are both such beautiful people... it is nice to see you in the photos.
This is so good. Love the shots of the two of you, and you look great!! You're so right, she will definitely love having these to treasure later on. :)
That second picture is really, really gorgeous, Corey. And, I love the thought you close with. I'm going to try to remember that.
You are so right to encourage us to do the same. I know my kids would appreciate it, but I have such a hard time doing it especially being so heavy. Of course, my kids see me differently than I see myself so I guess it would be okay to do. I'm still not posting them!
As I get used to my new camera I'm going to have to do more with me and the kids. I always have a ton of the kids or my hubby but very few of me. My husband will shoot one once in a while but it's usually only one and almost never a flattering one!
You and your daughter are both beautiful and these are great shots...
Ah yes, I am always hiding from the camera. I read another post that says something along the lines of - you are never going to look younger than you are right now, so better capture it for your kids before you do start looking old.
BTW, I stopped by here again because of the award you got from Tell Me Thursday - congrats!
