While browsing through some old photos tonight, I ran across this photo of Sugar Bear playing with a bug. My girl is a true nature lover. It is pure joy to be outside with her. She embraces the world, and cherishes all it has to offer, and this includes bugs. The girl can play with a beetle bug for a half hour.
A funny thing happened tonight when I stopped on this particular photo. I noticed Sugar's hand gesture, and cracked a huge smile on my face. She is making the sign for "I love you!" I had not noticed this until tonight. I am certain she didn't intend to use sign language at that very moment, although she does know that particular sign. I just find it so totally interesting. It is like a subtle (or not so subtle) message to the world about her love of all things nature.
Rock on Sugar Bear!
Thanks for visiting my blog this week! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
27 Live It or Love It:
I love how she loves being outdoors and all the creatures she comes across.
FABULOUS!!
i noticed the sign language before i noticed the bug THEN i read your story...so sweet!
Too cool!
I love the hand signal but I love it even more than she is not afraid to play with bugs!
I LOVE how kids have no fear or no bias to anything. And especially cool is the love signal. She just rocks Corey.
My Izzy loves to be outside and exploring. She's really got a thing for bugs too, except for Spiders and Ants. She really freaks on both. Anything else, and she'll pick it right up and cuddle it!
Great photo!
That is SO cool!!! I love this!
It's definitely a "sign"!
I am glad you are raising her to love bugs - I have so little patience for girls (and women) who get all screamy over insects...
What an awesome capture! It may be nothing but coincidence, but she really is flashing "I love you!"
this is great! why is it that girls love bugs when they are little and then hate them when they grow up??
Wow... most kids would get freaked out! Your daughter's a trooper!
My PSF is HERE.
Ohhh so cute. I love the shots of her messing with little bugs. :D
That story made me smile in the midst of a work disaster! :-) I love that she loves bugs. We are currently housing two grasshoppers and a praying mantis! My Bug digs bugs too.
Well I sure don't know sign language (maybe I should) but that's kind of an interesting observation ;-)
bugs are cool and mysterious :-)
I love that! How cool that she likes bugs, and you are braver than I am! I would be like "don't touch it!"
Neat. I don't think I would've noticed that.
I think it's cool when girls like bugs. I love the sign too!
Very cool!! i love that she's playing with the bug :)
Great picture! I have one where my son is sucking on two fingers and the position of the other fingers makes the "i love you" sign. It is one of my favorite shots.
that is so sweet the whole playing with bugs and all, my so doesn't like bugs at all. I am not sure why, I don't even freak out when I see them. I guess it is part of his nature, just as it is part of hers to like them That is a cute picture!
Sweet! I like how you noticed the sign for I love you. She's sharing a little love with the bug. :)
something about this post really bugs me.
we can get your girl and my boy together for the bug fest. he is a master-spider-finder.
that is all. exhausted girl has left the room.
I love it when you can come back to a picture and see things that you hadn't seen before. This should be framed and hung on a wall.
I am not that observant, I guess, I didn't see the sign until you wrote that you were looking..., then I looked again! very cool how that turned out!
You so celebrate your daughter and your world with her.
Great shot of the bug - and the hand sign.
that is such a gorgeous pic.
Oh Corey, that's beautiful! I didn't notice the sign either until you mentioned it, but it's so perfect. :)
