Okay....so some of you might already know what a dangerous thing it is for Corey to peruse the pages of Wondertime Magazine. The evidence is here.....and don't forget HERE. I think those posts speak for themselves fairly well, but let's just say.....things don't always go well when I take one of their "bright ideas!"
Sometime in May, while flipping through Wondertime, I saw a great idea for making little planters out of egg shells. Being the ever creative person I am, I decided to go with my "Wondertime Theme" and make Egg Heads using egg shells, soil, and grass seed. I mean we simply can not get enough of organic, earth friendly heads now can we? Am I right or am I right, or am I right? RIGHT!
So we started off with carefully cracking eggs one morning for breakfast, and creating two "planters". Then we filled them with soil.
I borrowed some grass seed from my brother, as I was not buying a huge thing of seed for this tiny project. As it was....he insisted on giving me WAY more than I needed.
Sugar Bear carefully pinched some seed, and lovingly placed it in the "planters".
This was a great activity for working on fine motor skills. She spilled some, but since we had more than plenty it wasn't anything to worry about.
One thing Sugar likes to do is to carefully inspect her work as she goes. As serious as she was during this task....I assure you, she was having a good time.
Once sufficient seeds were atop the soil, Sugar sprinkled them with some water.

9 Live It or Love It:
Oh what a great idea. I can't believe you're making us wait to find out what happened! Those eggs would be cute with little faces painted on... and grass hair. :-)
Oh I can't wait to see how your project turns out! I accidentally let my subscription to Wondertime run out. EEKS!!!! What was I thinking??
I've also seen this cute little project on NOGGIN, in which a little girl (almost as cute as Sugar) grows "hair" for her egghead using cress seed. She painted hers and gave it a face. Evidently cress seed grows very quickly.
I.Must.Do.This.
looks like fun- we're trying to grow a chili pepper from seed. I wonder how that is going, seeing as I've been away for 4 weeks!
What an adorable idea! We need to reseed the backyard here....so I know what we will be doing soon.
You can tell she was really into this! I love it when they jump right on the bandwagon and go to town.
oh i think mine would really get a kick out of this.
i would feel much better about him using this stuff than the can opener. he wanted to use that yesterday. um. no son.
How cool! You are such a great Mom.
Oh my gosh! I just read about Larry and Sigfried, and I am totally cracking up! You told those stories so well. And while I have never explored Wondertime myself, you are not the first person to reccomend the magazine...I will definitely have to check it out!
Anyway, on to the project at hand - looks awesome. Your little assitant seems very careful...I'm afraid those poor little egg heads wouldn't have lasted long in N's over-eager hands. :D
Yay, I just discovered some old grass seed in my outhouse. I see eggheads coming our way. :D
