Color My World

Last month, the theme for my Three Corners Challenge was ART. I have never been one to really notice art in general. I mean, I admire pretty things.....or things that are interesting, but I have not been one to just want to look at art. Certainly, I have seen pretty paintings, and admired a nice sculpture, but I am not one to just jump at the chance to go hang out in a gallery. Nor have I ever considered myself an artist.

Throughout my journey with photography, I have somehow felt a turning of tides, and have begun to consider it an art. Photography is my art. Being just who I am, I recently googled the word art. I particularly liked this excerpt from Wikipedia:

Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of
stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas.

I absolutely do not consider ALL my photos art, but often I find myself taking photos with the intent of transmitting emotion, or the goal of stimulating the human senses. For a little over 2 years I have been seeing the world from a different view. I find myself looking around my environment, and seeing it like never before. I desire to find that perfect angle that opens up an object to new thinking. I try...and sometimes succeed. It is comforting to know that not all art has to be good, but it certainly is fun trying. It interests me how differently my photos affect people who view them. I appreciate those who take the time to let me know which photos elicit a reaction.

Recently, a blogging friend commented on my Three Corners post that "Your life always seems so colorful to me - like you live in a different world to mine, really." This comment blessed my heart and fed my soul. It felt great to know that I have succeeded in conveying the message, through my photos, that my LIFE IS GOOD! And it is. Like no other time in my life, I am seeing the color. I am viewing my world looking for the good, and finding new things to appreciate about life.

Last month, as I walked pasted a piece of art on the local community college's campus, I tried to see it from all sides, view it differently than I have before.

I enjoyed framing it over and over with my lens.

I got closer....

....and further away.

And finally, to honor a wonderful blogging friend who is always encouraging us to look for the unexpected shot, I framed this one for David.

It is by far my favorite one, as it makes me smile knowing that without actually taking the time to really LOOK, I would never have seen this view. I would have just walked right now past. I am learning to look for the unexpected....and to never pass on by. Life is good!

I love it. I remember taking a photo of clouds reflected in a car window once. I noticed the reflection while looking out the kitchen window while washing dishes. Probably never would have noticed if I wasn't "stuck" there washing the dishes. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Yep, the last one!!

Thank you for the wonderful, generous mention.

And thank you for encouraging others to look beyond the obvious, to where The Best Shot always lies .....

Wow that is beautiful! Even though we only live one state away, I also feel like you are in a different world, a world where colors are more vivid! Your photography is most definitely an art, a beautiful art! Don't you EVER stop taking pictures, ok?!!! That's an order!

I find I am always, always inspired to get better, bolder, more "there" shots by the work you show here. Thanks, friend.
