Last week, my dear friend Megan, blew my mind by taking the time to write a very time consuming post regarding Child Safety Seats. One that I should have written a long long time ago. In fact, I have several drafts sitting there.....waiting for me to FIND.THE.TIME. I know all too well the time it takes to write such a GREAT post.
Back in 1998, through my work, I took a FOUR day course in Child Passenger Safety. My efforts left me not only quite educated in all things related to children riding in vehicles, it left me with a long title to add below my name on my business cards. Yup, I'm officially a "Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician".
A WHAT?????
Well, basically that means one thing......if you have questions regarding your child's safety in your vehicle....I'm your girl.
Child Passenger Safety is near and dear to my heart. I'm a huge advocate for children in general, and this is subject just one of them. I have been wanting to address this very important subject here on my blog for a long while now, but will be honest in telling you that I have procrastinated due to the HUGENESS of this subject.
I'd like to recommend heading over to Megan's blog and reading her post. It is a very thoroughly done post that covers much of the needed information. It is my hope that over the next few months, I will break the info down here into several smaller posts. While Megan's post addresses MOST of the basics, I'd like to take a few deeper looks into some of the subjects including, but no limited to, extended rear-facing, and extended 5-point harnessing.
Our lives of our children are precious. Join me in ensuring that we are doing everything under our power to keep them safe.
8 Live It or Love It:
How I wish people would adhere to the rules. I cannot tell you how ANGRY I get, driving in my car, and yes, some idiot parent has a small child STANDING on the front seat! I can do my mind! Can parents be so irresponsible? You go girl ... you have my support!

I can't begin to tell you how many people here that do NOT put kids in carseats. Or worse they let them ride in the front seat. Drives me batty every time I see it.
I hear you girl! Thanks for your comments on my pic. I can't wait until you are back from your blogging break. I need my Corey's photos fix.....Maybe I have a Sugar addiction. lol. (I know, corny again). That can't be my problem, cause I loved your kitty pics too. I just love your pics....yea...that's it!
Oh yes... my family thinks I'm a little over the top with car safety. Too bad! My skinny butt Bug will probably be in a booster until he passes the height limits. I know he won't meet the weight limit first!
I think that's great your certified. I remember when we brought W.W. home from the NICUS we had to go through a short training course on vehicle safety and infants. It's to good to be informed. :)
I'm with you 100% on this. You know what I think? There should be some procedure for licensing parents. There are just too many nut cases out there, who don't take this kind of stuff seriously!
We take the bus a lot.
But even though I'm not the best belter in my car (Monkeyboy always slips his arms out or struggles until he does so...) I got very outraged that my friend wanted to put her baby carrier in the front seat. NO. I said she was more than welcome to do that, but the car would not be in motion until she put the baby in the back.
Please tell me you flash your badge at people. Even if it's a lie.
