Photostory Friday~ How it speaks of my summer so far

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

When I look at these photos they say so very much to me about my state of mind these days.

There is hope, surprise, timeliness, and tardiness. A hint of luck, a bucket of bad luck, loads of patience, and a fair share of impatience, as well.

Feelings of being trapped, yet incredible amounts of FREEDOM.

Carefree, relaxed, and joyful. Anxious, uptight, and grumpy.

So full of blessings, and yet sobered by loss.

It was an unusual time for me to be driving into the town between my parents home and mine. The late hour left me alone on the road. The night was clear, the stars were out, and the crescent moon was shining. I drove along the river, alone that night in no hurry....in no rush. As I rounded the corner, the sight of that beautiful crescent moon hanging oh so close to the majestically lit Flag of ours took my breath away. A gentle wind lifted the colors into a rolling wave. I eased my truck to the shoulder of the road, dug out my camera, and composed my shot. I waited, with my finger on the shutter release for that friendly breeze. I waited......and waited. I impatiently snapped a few with the fabric hanging limp to be sure my settings on my camera were correct. After awhile, I simply let the camera fall to my lap, and just took it all in.

While I did not capture the original sight that stopped me in my tracks, I did capture snapshots that speak very much to the story of my summer.

I have been quite absent (like the wind) in blogland lately, and while that used to leave me feeling a bit undone, curiously I'm very much at ease with letting a bit of time come between myself and my online journal. I'm getting stuff done, and wasting time. I'm busy, and lazy. I'm here......and not here. Don't worry, though.....the photos are stacking up, and someday soon, I'll have stories to tell.

Have a wonderful weekend!

We Have a Visitor

We've been busy....and having so much fun with one of our favorite people in the whole world. Sugar is delighted to have a playmate, and I'm having fun with the camera. Life is good......and there is little time for blogging, which in my opinion, is how summer should be.

Have a GREAT weekend. Not at all sure when I'll be back, but be sure.....we are HAPPY!

Tell Me Thursday~ My Girly and her Dolly

TMT150x150

It is my wish for you to know what my Wordless Wednesday, Loved and Lost, photos meant to me. They were the main reason we were there...in that light.....on that road....with that doll. It isn't all too often that I have an idea in my head that comes to fruition. These were such a beast. I had an idea of a little girl with her dolly tagging along. I wanted to capture some quiet moments of the two of them walking along the road together, as I've seen so many children do. I then wanted to capture a photo of the doll left behind. I even had the lighting, and post processing figured out for these shots.

This concept has been rattling around in my head for quite a long time, but I kept waiting for the right outfit, and the right type of doll. Much time past, and I nearly forgot about it, until Sugar suggested taking her doll on one of our nightly walks.

Once out there, I snapped away and caught many fun moments, and somehow, the quiet ones emerged as well. It was fun to watch. She'd go from quiet walking to skipping joyfully, then back to walking. I just snapped away. I even took some time to snap some flowers, and then caught her and dolly playing Ring Around the Rosy. It wasn't until I we were nearly home when I remembered my original idea. I had to ask Miss Sugar to put her dolly in the road. She was so concerned about her laying in the rocks. It was so cute. I hurriedly snapped a few shots, and let her rescue baby doll from the hard rocks.

While editing the photos, I found such pleasure in seeing this project come together, as if it were meant to be. It happened, even though the outfit wasn't perfect, and the dolly wasn't the one I imagined. It still happened, and I have the photos to show for it. I almost didn't share them, as I still want to try again in different circumstances. In the end, I decided they were just too cute not to share. I really hope you all enjoyed them.
