52 weeks of me 2012~ weeks 45 and 46

Hello there Internets.....this blog needs to be dusted off.  I've been a busy little person, and finding myself spread a bit thin.  I even went to work this Saturday...that NEVER happens.

I'm finding myself being so very forgetful.  This self portrait project hasn't been high priority, and the week often flies by without my remembering to get the shot.  I had to get two shots this week to make up for missing out last week.  oops.

My little Butterfly

This Halloween had some pretty un-fantastic weather, BUT....I couldn't complain because we are safely nestled here on the west coast, and my mind is on those who weathered Hurricane Sandy this week.  A lot of rain here.....really isn't anything compared to that, so I set my thoughts on enjoying our Hallween evening no matter what.

Funny story....LAST year my Sugar Bear wanted to be a butterfly, but noooooooooooooooooooooo.....I mentioned the possibility of being Rapunzel from the movie Tangeled, and BLAM.....I had two months of crazy planning and sewing to do.  I don't regret it one bit......but I wasn't ready to be THAT committed this Halloween, so I was more than thrilled when Sugar mentioned being a Butterfly again.  Whew......

She even requested that we keep it simple.  So we totally did, and she loved her costume just the same. 

 

 

I purchased the wings.  We loved that they weren't the stiff....hanging off your back sort of wings.  She didn't want to be bumping into everyone all the time.  I did embellish them a bit with some gems and sequins.  So pretty.

 

 

 

I made her antennae with wire and beads.  We both thought it was really pretty and cute. 

 

 

 

She was happy with how quick and easy it was to put on her costume.  :)

 

 

Trick or Treating was great.  She flew all around, and enjoyed her butterfly freedom. 

 

 

I like BIG hair!

I totally wasn't going to post these was they look a bit like kiddy "glamour shots", which I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo not a fan of, but I just feel a bit like having a giggle tonight.

  My girl is sick.....again. Now I should NOT be feeling whiney about it because it is minor illness and there are so many lovely children who are suffering from really horrible illnesses, and I need to be grateful for my Sugar Bear's health, soooooo (can this sentence get any longer? Yes, it can!) I need to post some fun photos that remind me of happy, healthy times.

The afternoon after Sugar Bear's Dance Recital, we had a bit of fun when we took all of Sugar's hair out of that gell and hair spray shellaced bun.

Ohhhhh my! First there was much fluffing and shaking.

And then there was the flip back and see what we had.  BIG HAIR is what we had for sure.

I have had big old curly hair my whole life, while my Sugar Bear has had straight, and not so thick tresses.  It was so fun to see her looking a bit like I did in the early 1990's.  tee hee

It was interesing to see how the big hair, and all my giggling brought out the sassy in my girl.  She was posing up a storm, and being such a nut.  Loved it.

While my girl briefly considered cutting her hair to the length of her bangs, I'm really glad she has decided to wait awhile.  I adore her long hair.

For a minute during this giggly good time, I saw a bit of who she might become in a few years, and I liked it.  I know her body will grow.....and her features might change, but her heart......It will always be as perfect as it is now.

52 Weeks of Me 2012~ Week 24

The theme/prompt for the week was:  The Fan

Okay....so we all know I was a bit giddy to do this theme again.  I had so much fun the last time.  Maybe too much fun! What a dork-o-pot-amous I am.  tee hee

I didn't really have any expectations of this photo shoot.  I just wanted to try it again.  So I set up my tripod and had at it.  I got quite a variety. 

I didn't try to be as silly as last time, but I had to do a few. This one is my fav of the goof ball shots.

 

If you have never given "The Fan" a try,  I highly suggest that you do. It is good for a few giggles. Sugar Bear got in on the action this time. I'll be posting her shots soon.

TuTu BLUE~Fabulous Friday

I adore it when my little Sugar Bear is a goof ball. I have always called her "my little ham sandwich". She cracks me up all the time. I love that we spend a great deal of our time together laughing. Last night we got to finally bring her Dance Recital costume home with us, as the recital is this weekend. My girl just couldn't resist the opportunity to put her TUTU on her head and be silly. She got plenty of looks, and lots of smiles and giggles as we walked out the door.

Now, I wouldnt' be Corey if I didn't ask my girl to stand still for a few shots.  It's a darn good thing I have my camera on me at ALL times, yes?  I nabbed several shots, but this one was one of my favorites.  I love her sweet smile, and how she is looking right at me. 

Cute, yes? But look at this next one. I mean seriously people, how could I not use this a my Fabulous Friday shot? Look at my girl.

Where did this grown up beauty come from????  Wowza!  I love the intensity of her stare.  sigh....so glad I didn't miss this opportunity to capture a bit of my girl.

My Week 82

April 23rd was a normal Monday. Sugar was OVER the top excited to show me the pot holder she finished up knitting at school. It is her first complete project. She is so very proud. It was an EARLY Mother's Day gift. My favorite color as well.

April 24th I left work early to give some newborn photography a go. This little punkin gave me a run for my money. He absolutely WOULD.NOT.SLEEP. Newborns make 83 bazzilion faces when they are awake, and their little limbs never stop moving. WOW what a challenge. I did adore this little yawn though. So cute.

April 25th was yet another typical Wednesday. Sugar Bear hangs out at a friend's house on Wednesday afternoons. She loves it. She surprised me with the amazing chalkboard drawing when I stopped to pick her up. I love, love, love it.

April 26th found me ready to give the newborn little honey another try. We ramped up the heat, and mama nursed him like crazy, and we finally got him to sleep. Sigh......so much easier. whew.....

April 27th was a friday. And.....I played with baby bunnies when I got home from work. And that's all I remember. It's been toooooooo long.

April 28th was a stunning day. The Hubby, Ivy dog, Sugar Bear and I went for a hike along the coast. It was perfect. I love days like that.

April 29th was another birthday party. April was the month of kid birthday parties for sure. We had one every single weekend, and sometimes two. This was a pool party, and the kids LOVED it. Sugar hadn't been in the water since summer, so she was super duper excited. I nabbed lots of shots but this one of a friend's little brother caught my eye. He is over the top adorable. ♥

52 Weeks of ME 2012~ Week 20

The theme/prompt for this week was:  Hobbies or Interests

I am pleased to announce that I'm back up and running with my computer.  It was so hard to be without for so long.  My main hobby (photography) is really hard to continue without my computer.  I now have 63 bazzillion photos to deal with. 

I did manage to get a shot for this week's theme today.  It was fun to do a multiple exposure for this.  I have lots of hobbies and interests.

and Reading.

  So much to do....so little time. That's why I love the multiple exposure for this one. I am always struggling to figure out how I can get more done in a day. I wish I could do it alllllll at the same time.

Sugar Bear.......

- is SEVEN years old. How can that be?

- is my bestest little friend. I am her mother.....but she is definitely my favorite person in the whole wide world. It is my greatest hope that it always stays that way.

- has amazing hair. I waited soooooooooooooooooo long for that hair to show up, and oh how it takes my breath away with it's multi-colored, highlighted loveliness. I am sad to report that she wants to cut it this summer. It is KILLING me, but we'll do it and give it to Lock for Love.



- blesses my heart each and every single day with her continued, all encompassing, love for her mama. She looks at me with eyes so full of love, that I often feel like I can see her soul.

- loves yogurt, spaghetti, and fruit. She is a pretty choosy eater, but I'm mostly to blame for that. One thing I love about this girl is her ability to stop eating when she is satisfied. She won't eat something for the sake of eating it. She turns down dessert or a treat nearly 50% of the time. Wish I had that control.

-loves to listen to Adele, and more recently, The Civil Wars. She has good taste in music.

- is growing into her new teeth. It has been a hard transition with these new BIGGER teeth, but her smile still lights up the world of those she blesses with it. It changed her little face, but it isn't the outside that truly shines....it's what's on the inside that makes her the amazing girl she is.

- is brave and strong. She most recently was sick with vomiting while I was away for several days. While she prefers to nearly crawl back inside me when she is not feeling well, she will also just buck right up and take care of herself. She got ill in the middle of the night, and decided not to wake her grandma, and just clean herself up and go back to sleep. It is times like this when I can't deny she is growing up.

- likes school, but isn't an over achiever. She just doesn't like anything more than anything else. You can ask her, "want to go to the park?" and you'll get nearly the same reaction if you asked her, "want to go take a bath?" She is willing to do most things, but doesn't show GREAT enthusiasm for anything in particular. It is never a chore to get her to go to school, but she doesn't get all giddy about it either. She isn't a fan of reading, but is progressing.

- prides herself in being quite a funny little person. She will always be "my little ham sandwich". She continues to be shy around people, but one of her main coping mechanisms is humor. She has been using this technique since she was about two years of age. She LOVES to make people of all ages laugh. Lately, I've noticed how much she enjoys making her friends laugh. She can be a real goofball. She appreciates a good Ol' corny kid joke. A favorite right now: Why did Tigger look in in the toilet?...........He was looking for Pooh! tee hee

- is tenderhearted, but not overly emotional. I have NEVER seen her mad. oh wait....once when she was like 18 months she threw a tantrum. Other than that.....she is the most even keeled person EVER. She cares deeply, but is able to be reasonable, and is one of the most understanding individuals I have ever met.

- loves the colors BLUE, PURPLE, and GREEN. She tolerates pink, but would really love to do without it. She isn't a foo foo sort of girl, and only asks to wear a dress once in a rare while. In fact, she never really cares what she is wearing. I still pick out her clothes for her (blush).

- is really enjoying the rare sunny days we've had lately. I love to see her outside playing with our dog, or climbing a tree, or singing loudly as she swings back and forth on her swing set. That's what childhood should be about. Nothing rocks our world more than some time before dinner hanging out with the newest babies bunnies. ♥

- deserves so much more that I can ever give her. Of all the things I've ever done.....creating this special little person tops them all. She has given me FAR more than I'll ever be able to repay. ♥ I am one VERY lucky mama!

I love my little Sugar Bear to the moon and back.....and more than all the stars in the sky.

Letting her light shine

For the past few months, I have found myself in "barely blogging" mode, and it makes me sad. There are so many things I get out of the process of blogging. I love the idea that someday Sugar Bear will get to read back and have the opportunity to peek into her childhood. To know her mother better. To see.....to feel....to know the way I have felt about being her mother. I have only been able to do the bare minimum lately when it comes to documenting our life. It is my Christmas wish that I will find the time....the desire....the drive to do more.

The other day, it was an incredible morning outside. It was cold.....and crisp.....and the light was amazing. I couldn't resist trying to nab some macro shots of nature. It was truly something that could be considered "me time". It was all for me. Sugar tagged along, and while I crouched in the frosty grass, I looked over to see my darling girl bathed in warm glorious light. I caught my breath and began to snap away. She didn't disappoint. I was able to snag so many shots that capture all that is Sugar Bear.

Her inner light.....her joy........her amazing little self. I recently had a friend experience the TRUE Sugar Bear, and it blessed my heart. So often, Sugar is just to shy to be "herself". I love that she is opening up to those around her more. I love that my friend got to see this girl.....

This sweet......fun......GOOFY girl. She is funny, and witty.......and just plain lovable. She started to mimic me......searching to get a laugh out of me.

It worked! How could it not? She IS my joy. I am so very blessed to be this little person's mama. I can not feel more proud.

I hope that she will always know how completely I love her. I hope she always knows that I am her biggest fan, and I can't wait to see who she becomes.

This smile has changed.......it is changing every day.....but it is still my most favorite smile in the world because it goes right to my heart, and fills me with the most amazing feeling.

I know.....I know.....I'm such a sappy mom. I can't help it. She is just such a pretty little nut.

I am about 98% sure she is a an Almond. :)
