Team-Up Thursday~ SPRING

teamup

Hosted by Megan and Hip Momma

This week, Berta and I chose to focus on the idea of SPRING. It was an easy choice. I mean who isn't TOTALLY ready for SPRING? I know I am BEYOND ready for SPRING.

I am thrilled with the simplicity of our diptych this week. Berta's shot on the left is just perfect with it's tiny touch of color. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in this project. Berta is fantastic. ♥

Once again, I'm adding a Mister Linky so that I might have some luck tracking more of the participants down. I so very much enjoy seeing what all the teams have come up with. I especially like to read what they had to say about the process.

THANKS.

Crafty Tuesday~ Now I want a hooded towel, too!

Mar2210_0059ew

Way back before Christmas I searched down a tutorial to make hooded towels. I've been wanting to make some for Sugar Bear. My heart just gets all squishy when I see a child in a hooded towel fresh from the bath. I mean....it just simply can't get any better than a squeaky clean little monkey. sigh.....

Mar2210_0035ew

I ended up making one towel for Sugar, and two as gifts for my nieces. I followed this super easy tutorial by Jenn over at It's Sew Sweet. Seriously...so fun and easy.

Mar2210_0056ew

Some time has passed, and I got distracted from the fact that I was going to make another one for Sugar Bear and a few to have at Grandma's house. The towels sat waiting for me....and I finally found some time last weekend to whip them up.

Mar2210_0040ew

Sugar Bear loves them, and I have to say.....

Mar2210_0050ew

watching her in these sweet little towels.....

Mar2210_0043ew

Really makes me want on for myself.

Mar2210_0048ew

She certainly makes them look like a PASSEL of FUN!

Mar2210_0033ew

Try some for yourself. It is a quick project that is SEW easy!

i ♥ faces~ Dramatic Black and Whites

When I saw the theme this week, I just wasn't sure what to do with it. My photos tend to be pretty light and happy for the most part. I almost decided to let this theme go by when I remembered a set of photos I took last summer. I took a few minutes to convert one of the shots to black and white, and I'm hoping it fits the theme. For me....it speaks of emotion. The Waiting....and wondering.....a bit of drama possibly. What do you think? Just for fun....make up a short story for this shot in my comments. Tell me what you think is happening in the moment captured.

Head on over to i ♥ faces to see some drama. It should be interesting.

It's been a really Kitty of a week

.....and yes, I have no idea what that means. I think it will be harder to think of a suitable title each week for a year, than to actually take a different photo of kitty EVERY.SINGLE.DAY for a year. Honestly, I can not believe I have over 200 pictures of Kitty now. It seems so very strange to think that I have more pictures of Kitty in the last 6 months than I have of myself in the last um.....probably.........13 years. CRAZY, huh?

BUT...it is still fun, so I'm still going. I am actually beginning to look forward to taking Kitty's picture this summer. The weather is getting better and better, and I'll actually be outside more. Can't wait.

Day 196

Do me a Favor...

And head on over to Denise Karis' blog and check out the finalists in her diptych contest.

Yes, I'm one of them, but I would love love love for you to head over and vote for whichever one strikes a cord with you. There is NO need to vote for me because you know me. I just want to send traffic over there. This is Denise's first contest, and it would be great to give her some support. She is a wonderful photographer.

The diptych I put together is from some photos I took last summer. The idea behind the diptych revolves around the idea of childhood being fleeting. A child so very quickly leaving her childhood behind, and moving on.

Please head on over and vote. Voting ends on the 26th. And I seriously mean....vote for the one that touches you the most. The other two are fabulous!

Thanks!

Team-Up Thursday~ RELAX

teamup

Hosted by Megan and Hip Momma

This week, Berta and I chose to focus on the idea of RELAX. I chose this theme being that it is Spring Break for us, and I sooooooooo want to RELAX. I have never needed this break more than I do this year. We have no major plans, and I like it that way. Playing it by ear....and basically, so far.....we've just kicked our feet up....and RELAXED. They only thing that would make it better would to be where BERTA took her picture while kicking up our feet. I mean seriously....what an amazingly beautiful, and RELAXING view.

WOW!

This week, I'm attaching a Mister Linky in hopes of having an easier time checking out all the other participants. Please take a minute and sign up, if you are playing along.

THANKS!

Take Your Daughter to Work Day

Feb2110_0097ew

Or something like that.

A few weeks back, Sugar Bear and I spent a good deal of our day with The Hubby at his place of employment. When people ask Sugar what her dad does for work, she replies, "He's a Captain! He catches fish!" but she really hasn't seen him doing it.

Feb2110_0072ew

We have visited his boat several times before, but she has never been out on the ocean. While The Hubby spends a good deal of his life out at sea, I get sea sick in the harbor. Even though we have been together since the dawn of time for 20 years, I have only once been out to sea, and while I think it is amazing and beautiful.....I get sick. We do not yet know if Sugar Bear gets sick, but I'm guessing that the time is coming near that we find out.

Feb2110_0073ew

It was an unusually sunny day for late February, and I know The Hubby was happy to have us there. He had been out to sea, and was heading right back out after unloading his catch, which was mainly petrole sole, dover sole and black cod (all of which is considered pacific bottom fish).

Feb2110_0071ew

We had fun exploring the boat, and even had to opportunity to hitch a ride from the slip (place the boat is tied up in port), to the fuel dock, to the fish plant. The railings are definitely NOT up to code when it comes to child safety, and I was totally wishing I had not forgotten her life jacket, but with someone standing close, I was able to snap a few shots of her enjoying the ride.

Feb2110_0087ew

and she really did.

Feb2110_0085ew

So many things to look at and point out. (Come back tomorrow to see what she was looking at.)

Feb2110_0083ew

Then Sugar got her turn in the captain's chair (also considered being at the helm).

Feb2110_0092ew

and I think it felt good!

Feb2110_0091ew

Peeking at Mama from up in the the wheel house (where you drive the boat), while I looked up from the galley (the cooking and eating area).

Feb2110_0103ew

All in all it was a perfect day for adventure. Maybe next time we'll brave the open sea. I think this girl might be ready!

Feb2110_0040ew
Pass the Dramamine, Mama's gonna need it!
