Photostory Friday~ Accountable

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

There is something to be said about accountability.  Many times in my life I have appreciated having friends and family that I knew I could turn too.....I could count on them to be there for me.  I like to think that I possess this very important quality myself.  I have hope that when people in my life need me....I'm there.  I am steady, and predictable.  If I say, I will be there....I will.  Most importantly, when I arrive, I will be who I say I am.  I will not disappoint you.  That is my mission.

As much as I strive to be accountable to others, I even more so need to be accountable to myself.  I am in charge of my life.  I have the power to make it what I want. I can choose....I can decide....I can.  I CAN!!!

All too often, I see people letting life HAPPEN to them.  They walk along feeling like the victim in their own story.  I do not fully understand this mind set, and I struggle when people I love are obviously struggling greatly, and actively blaming everyone, and everything, but themselves.  Yes, it is true that bad things can happen (and they do), but we need to be in charge of what we do about it, and how we move on.  It is my belief that it all comes down to this:

This is YOUR life! My question is.....Are you IN, or are you OUT?

Yep, I'm IN.... even when I know my life isn't exactly how I would like it to be I know that it is within ME to change it. I can't control what others do but I can control how I react to them and I take complete accountability for it. Nice post, I can only imagine what inspired it. Hugs!

I couldn't agree MORE. My Mom lost her mother to cancer when she was only 2 and then her father shortly thereafter, yet she took it upon HERSELF to better her life and never play victim.

Powerful sentiment Corey.

Very reflective story today! I enjoy it and asked myself the very same question...

I'm In!

Of course, I'm in! People who blame their troubles on others just plain drive me nuts!!

Oh, I hear you. There are a couple people in my family currently lamenting their situation rather than doing something about it. It kind of drives me crazy.

I totally agree with you on this one--for sure!

I TOTALLY agree with you!! Too often people claim to be the victims, instead of doing what they can to change. I'm sure I've fallen to this at times, but my heart is to be responsible for every decision I make!!

I love this post. I am a firm believer in taking control of your life. While I CANNOT control the actions of others around me, I CAN control how I respond to their actions or comments.

Great reminder....and shot as well!
