Conversation With The Sugar

The other day, as we traveled our 20 minute commute home, Sugar Bear requested to have her window rolled down. I gladly obliged, and smiled at her eagerness to have the wind blow in her face. She giggles....she grins....she soaks up the sun and the wind. She takes after her father in the fact that she handles cool weather much better than her mommy. It isn't strange to see her running around in a short sleeved shirt, while I hunker down in my t-shirt, sweatshirt AND coat.

This particular day, I was driving with only a short sleeved shirt on (oh...and pants....I am totally NOT that kind of girl). I had taken my coat off before entering the truck. Sugar was more warmly dressed. After about 5 minutes, I started to feel rather chilled. I proceeded to roll up Sugar Bear's window. She let out a little cry, "Mama....why did you do that?" I quickly responded with, "Honey....Mama is getting cold!" as I tried to rub the goose bumps off my arms. "Well, I'm NOT!" huffed little Sugar quietly. "Well, that's because you have a turtle neck, honey." I replied warmly, trying to help her understand. There was a moment of silence, and what I assume deep thinking.......then a small indignant voice said, "I do NOT! I have a KID NECK!"

Mama spent the next few minutes trying to stay on the road as the tears, only hysterical laughter can bring, flooded her eyes. After a long day at work....I soooooooooooo needed that.

Hehehe! Gotta love a kid's understanding of the world. The other day I said something to N about her BARE feet; she said "they're not BEAR feet, they're elephant feet." LOL!

Gosh, that's pretty funny... have you come up to the subject of "pony tails" or "pig tails" in the hair yet? =)

I wish I had a kid neck. :) I feel so much younger than my body shows. :) Such a sweetheart you have. :0) I thought she was going to advise you to put your jacket back on.

Oh, too funny! We've never been quite able to get the concept of a turtle neck shirt around here either - LOL! (And I'm so glad you remembered your pants - had me worried there for a minute...) ;)

P.S. I promise I'll respond to your email soon - my inbox, outbox, lifebox -- you name it is a disaster at the moment. :P
